Shamanic Perspectives 1 – What’s a Shaman Do?

Welcome to a 4-part video blog series about what a Shaman is.

This series highlights how Shamans view and correct imbalances that lead to addictions or mental health issues.

What’s a Shaman, what’s Shamanism, and what’s it to me?

In the US, most people don’t know much about Shamanism.  It is a cutting edge therapy for repeating/resistant patterns indicated when a client has already used many approaches to find relief.  Very few traditional therapists, counselors, ministers etc know enough about Shamanism to know when to refer to this specialized skill set, and it could be just the thing to help their client achieve real freedom.

In tribal societies, Shamans wear lots of hats: doctor, minister, herbalist, peacemaker.  In those societies, it’s obvious when you need to see the Shaman, there is an entire context for the profession that everyone understands.  In the US, people might not see a Shaman just because they fear judgment from friends/family about seeing a “witch doctor.”

Shamans look at addictions, whether substances, neediness, workaholism, etc etc, as types of spiritual energy imbalance.  Your long-standing issue could look like a messy wad of Xmas lights to us!  No worries, we have lots of tools and protocols to unravel these energy imbalances so your energy flows smoothly.  When your energy flows, you start revealing hidden capabilities and capacities that couldn’t be expressed before.
