Yes or No? — Are you pleased with the role your business plays in your life?
The concept of right relationship entails a relationship that is mutually beneficial, balanced in reciprocity between giving and taking, and where the relationship is serving the greater good.
The right relationship is win-win, with both sides getting more out of it than they’re putting in. It’s the concept that “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”
Imagine how being in the right relationship with your business feels…
- You’re getting as much or more out of it than you’re putting in.
- You’re consciously choosing to co-create with and through your business.
- You give and receive from each other.
- You are both fulfilled and thriving.
- You love your business, and your business loves you.
You Are Your Business
As an entrepreneur, the right relationship with our businesses comes from having a healthy balanced relationship with ourselves. It has been said that you are your business. I believe this because of my own personal explorations in walking this entrepreneurial journey. I wasn’t seen by my parents as a kid…funny how I have to work a lot harder to get traction in my marketing than some people. When I lack focus, over-drive myself or panic when it comes time to rest, it’s actually something deep that I’m running from, otherwise I’d have peace, clarity, and balance. I’ve had to learn so much about receiving and worthiness in order to have success in business.
What we choose for ourselves, what we allow ourselves to have, how we show up in life, in general, is usually how our business performs for us too.
Having a business mirrors the level of success we’re having in our most intimate relationship with…ourselves. 😉

What don’t you love about your business?
When you’re answering this question, go to the basic fundamental core of the issue. Maybe you’re stressed because you have more success than you expected. Or you don’t like one of the hats you’re wearing to run your company and are stuck when it comes time to delegate. What could you accept more, or change about yourself, etc that could bring that part of your business into alignment with your desires?
Our businesses require us to constantly grow, evolve, learn and change. At every level of success, there are new challenges requiring more flexibility, resiliency, and growth. The old childhood messages and subconscious programming are the places that cause us to be rigid when we need to flex.
How can you change your relationship with your internal rigid stuck places that are holding your back? If you can find a way to dialog, accept and even love those places inside you, they can transform. Then you are back on track with growing and moving in your business.
A small example: You wake up in a crappy mood and your work is at risk of being sub-par. Take time out…what is the grumpy inner voice saying to you? Can you satisfy his/her needs by making an agreement or taking an action?
You may only need to make a simple adjustment like drinking more water or playing music or setting up a playdate.
Once you have the dialog, usually your flow improves. Even though you took a time-out, the rest of your day will speed along, so you actually saved time and you’ll produce better quality too.
Resistance creates more resistance. If you feel resistant and you push it away, you’re still going to be in a crappy mood and your whole day will have friction. Accept, be present and listen, and the mood or other obstacles can dissolve, making way for Flow.
What does your inner self need in order to align with you, so everyone reaps the benefits of the right relationship?
What part of you needs love and attention so you could find your creativity, flow, and high vibes? These inner parts of us are buried in our subconscious ready to pounce and take us off-purpose. Be the bigger player, be the parent, and address that part of yourself with respect and quality attention. Let it know that his/her point of view is valuable, and…you will not allow him/her to throw you off.
What I love about the entrepreneurial journey is that it’s made me a better, stronger, smarter person.
PS – I loved this definition of right relationship from Environmentalist Jasmine Wallace:
“Right Relationship is being in relationship with ourselves and all Life Forms around us, whether they are plants, animals or humans. Being aware that what we think and what we do determines our world and what is in it. The truth is that what we think and what we do influences the future of our children, our planet and all things within it and on it. This concept is at the foundation of sustainable and practical living. It involves the knowledge that there is no such thing as separation – everything in our world is directly involved with us and we are involved with it. The key is that it is our choice to take responsibility for our thoughts and actions and relationships and focus on them being positive.”
